Reckless Driving, Road Racing Arrest, Drug Arrest, 101 Westbound, Raymond

At approximately 1100 hours on June 14, 2017, New Hampshire State Police Troop-A received a call from a concerned motorist of two vehicles road racing on Route 101 westbound. Trooper Thomas Lombardi, of the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was monitoring traffic from the State Police aircraft on Route 101 westbound in the Town of Raymond during the morning commute. Tr. Lombardi observed the vehicles traveling at an extremely high rate of speed and clocked one at 102 MPH in the posted 65MPH speed zone. Tr. Lombardi observed the vehicles actively racing .Tr. Lombardi radioed to Troopers on the ground. The vehicles, a 2006 Infinity and a 2002 Subaru, were then witnessed by Sgt. Christopher Storm racing as they approached his location. Sgt. Storm and Trooper Scott Garton of the Special Enforcement Unit stopped both vehicles. The Subjects were identified as Rafat Kareem, Age 21, Manchester, NH, and Martin Hodgson, age 24, York, ME.

Sgt. Storm made contact with Kareem and Hodgson. Both subjects were arrested. Hodgson was found in possession of controlled drugs. Sgt. Storm charged Kareem with reckless conduct, road racing and reckless driving. Hodgson was charged with Reckless conduct, Road Racing, Reckless Driving and Possession of Drugs in a motor vehicle. Both subjects are due to appear in the Candia Circuit Court to answer to these charges on August 9, 2017 at 0800.

The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire's roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
