Reckless Driving Arrest, I-89 Hopkinton

At approximately 0940 hours on March 18, 2017, Sgt. Christopher Storm, of the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was monitoring traffic from the State Police aircraft on I-89 Northbound in the Town of Hopkinton. Sgt. Storm observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed and clocked it at 104 MPH in the posted 65MPH speed zone. Sgt. Storm radioed to Troopers on the ground. The vehicle a 2007 Toyota Rav4 passed by the ground trooper's location. It was subsequently stopped on Exit 5. The Subject was identified as Robert Morrill, age 53, Boscawen, NH.

TFC Stanley Dombrowski made contact with Morrill. When asked why he was traveling at that speed. Morrill stated that he was late to work at a local ski area. TFC Dombrowski charged him with Reckless Driving. Morrill is due to appear in the Concord Circuit Court to answer to this charge on April 28, 2017 at 0800.

The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire's roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
