School Bus Collision, Route 123/Telephone Road Marlow, NH

On Thursday February 16, 2017 at approximately 0649 hours, troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop C and Troop G responded to a two-car Motor Vehicle Collision involving a First Student School Bus at the intersection of Route 123 and Telephone Road in the Town of Marlow.

The investigation revealed that Dylan B. Martin, Age 18, Greenfield, NH was operating a motor vehicle described as a 1988 Dodge Dakota.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Route 123 attempting to negotiate a sharp corner when it slid on the snow-covered road, traveled over the centerline and collided with a: 2006 First Student School Bus.

The School Bus was traveling eastbound on Route 123 and attempting to take a right-hand turn onto Telephone Road. The collision caused front end damage to the bumper of the bus temporarily disabling it due to the bumper being pushed against the front driver's side tire. The Dakota had front-end damage as well but was able to be driven from the scene. The School Bus was operated by James French, Age 67, Keene, NH.

At the time of the collision the bus was also occupied by approximately 19 students from the Town of Marlow. They were being transported to Keene Middle School and High School. There were no injuries as a result of the collision and all of the students were safely escorted off the bus and either transported by their parents or another school bus provided by First Student that arrived on scene a short time after the collision.

Superintendent Robert Malay of School Administrative Unit #29 was also on scene along with other First Student employees sent to assist.

Weather and speed were factors in the collision but there are no charges at this time.
