Pedestrian struck by tractor trailer, Interstate 89, Lebanon

On Jan. 17, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the New Hampshire State Police responded to a motor vehicle incident involving a tractor trailer and a pedestrian at the exit 20 off-ramp on Interstate 89 in Lebanon.

The investigation revealed that Roderic Ricker, 65, of White River Jct., Vermont, had just been in a separate motor vehicle crash involving his 2002 Subaru Legacy and a 2002 Toyota Camry operated by Jeremy Potwin, 47, of South Royalton, VT.

A verbal disagreement ensued between the men as they stood outside of their vehicles, during which Potwin punched Ricker. The assault caused Ricker to fall into the roadway, and he was then struck by a passing tractor trailer.

Ricker was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The ramp was closed for approximately an hour during the investigation.

The criminal investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Trooper Catalfamo at (603) 271-3635.
