photo showing damage to trailer unit

On Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at approximately 11:17 AM, Wayland Clarke, age 29, of Colebrook, NH, was operating a 1994 Peterbilt tractor trailer unit southbound on Route 293 in Manchester when the roof of the trailer tore off and landed in the roadway. Trooper R. Hajjar and Department of Transportation personnel quickly responded to the scene and removed the roof from the highway without incident.

The tractor trailer unit became disabled on the Exit 5 southbound off- ramp when the frame on the trailer gave way under the pressure of the cargo it was hauling. The tractor trailer unit was loaded with individually packaged wood shavings. The Exit 5 off-ramp was shut down for several hours while the vehicle and the contents were removed from the scene.

Assisting at the scene was personnel from the Manchester Fire Department and Trooper First Class A. Vittoria of New Hampshire State Police, Troop G Truck Enforcement Unit.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Trooper First Class Vittoria at 603-672-3333.
