Motor Vehicle Collision, Littleton

On December 20, 2016 at 5:20 PM the NH State Police, Troop F received a request from the Littleton Police Department to assist with a serious personal-injury motor vehicle collision on US RT 302 in the vicinity of the Staples store. Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police, Troop F as well as Troopers assigned to the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2010 Toyota Matrix, being operated by Manuel Aguilera, age 23, of Lower Waterford, Vermont, was traveling east on US RT 302, when it crossed the centerline and stuck a 1997 Chevrolet z71 pickup truck, being operated by Loriston Shumway, age 43, of Lisbon, New Hampshire. Shumway suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire to be treated. Aisha Fekay, age 28, of Littleton, New Hampshire was a passenger in Aguilera's vehicle and was also injured in the collision. Aguilera was transported to the Littleton Regional Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Units assisting at the scene included personnel from the New Hampshire State Police-Troop F, New Hampshire State Police-Troop G, New Hampshire State Police-Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, Littleton Police Department, Grafton County Sherriff's Department, Littleton Fire Department and Calex Ambulance Service.

At this time the investigation is on-going and all factors are being considered however, it appears impairment was a factor in this collision. Updated Information

On December 22, 2016 at around 3:30a.m., Loriston Shumway succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
