Combined Accident Reduction Effort - Thanksgiving Weekend Traffic Enforcement

State Police Director Christopher Wagner announces the enforcement efforts of State Troopers during the recent C.A.R.E Life Saver Weekend beginning Wednesday November 23, 2016 through Sunday November 27, 2016.

The State Police are pleased to announce that there were no fatal motor vehicle crashes during this time period. We want to thank all those who traveled safely and courteously during the holiday weekend.

State Troopers maintained a highly visible presence throughout the State to assure safe holiday travel. Those efforts included making a total of 3,087 vehicle stops resulting in: 755 citations for speeding, 2,047 warnings, and 41 citations for Driving after Suspension. Additionally, 114 other criminal arrests were made during this time period.

Troopers also cited 40 drivers for, "Use of Mobile Electronic Devices While Driving." We would like to highlight that drivers were found to be largely compliant with the distracted driving law.

Highly trained State Troopers were also assigned statewide to detect and apprehend impaired drivers. As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a total of 21 DUI arrests made.

Several impaired operators were identified and apprehended as a result of phone calls by responsible citizens reporting unsafe and erratic operation. The men and women of the State Police appreciate the public's assistance in helping to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce traffic collisions during the holiday season.
