Wrong Way Driver Nearly Misses NH Trooper, Interstate 93 Northbound

On October 15, 2016, at approximately 0130 hours, Sgt. James Steinmetz Troop D was traveling northbound on I-93, south of Exit 13, in the City of Concord when he encountered a wrong way driver traveling southbound. Sgt. Steinmetz swerved to avoid a head-on collision with the vehicle. However, Sgt. Steinmetz crashed into the guardrails off of the break-down lane causing damage to the State Police Cruiser. The vehicle a, 2014 Black Cadillac pulled to the far right side off of the passing lane and stopped. The operator, Gregory Dumais, 28 Hillsboro, NH was the only occupant in the Cadillac. He was taken into custody and charged with DWI and Reckless Conduct. G. Dumais was taken to Merrimack County Jail. He was bailed on $10,000 PR bail pending an arraignment on October 28, 2016.

Sgt. James Steinmetz went to Concord Hospital and was later released for minor injuries.
