On August 19th, 2016 Troopers from State Police Troop D received a report of a road rage incident that involved one driver pointing a firearm at another driver. The suspect vehicle and its registration plate was broadcast over the radio to all Troop D troopers. The suspect vehicle was reported to have last been seen getting on Route 89, Northbound.

Trooper Mark Barrett, along with several other troopers, were at the scene of a 2 car rollover crash on Route 89 in Hopkinton. As result of the crash northbound traffic had slowed. Trooper Barrett stood in the roadway and watched for the suspect vehicle. A short time later a vehicle which matched the description earlier broadcast was located and stopped.

The driver, and sole occupant, Chris Bonollo, age 51, Henniker, New Hampshire, was identified and interviewed. Bonollo admitted to possessing a firearm in his vehicle and allowed Troop Barrett to inspect the weapon, a black Ruger LCP .380 caliber pistol. Bonollo denied that he displayed the weapon. Trooper Barrett investigated the matter and as result applied for an arrest warrant for Bonollo.

The warrant was issued and On October 10, 2016 Bonollo was located and arrested by the Henniker Police Department. Bonollo was arrested and released on $ 7000.00 personal recognizance bail to appear on December 2, 2016 in the Concord District Court. While in the Henniker police car Bonollo complained of shoulder pain so he was transported to the Concord Hospital by ambulance. Bonollo has been charged with criminal threatening, RSA 631:4, and carrying a handgun without a license, RSA 159:40.
