Motor Vehicle Fatality - G.H. Carter Drive Danville NH

accident photo of a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Donald Leathers

On September 16th, 016 at approximately 8:49am, the Danville Police Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on G.H. Carter Drive. Responding officers found a single vehicle which had left the roadway and overturned. Troopers from NH State Police Troop-A were requested to respond and assist with the investigation. That investigation determined a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup was travelling on G.H. Carter Drive when for an unknown reason the vehicle drifted off the roadway to the right, overcorrected and struck a telephone pole before overturning and coming to rest on its roof. The operator of the vehicle, later identified as one Donald Leathers, age 55, Danville, NH, had suffered significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, and while the investigation is continuing into the cause of the crash, preliminary information shows neither excessive speed nor alcohol was to blame.

The New Hampshire State Police were assisted at the scene by the Danville Police and Fire Departments, the Fremont Police Department and the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office. This incident is under investigation by Trooper Thomas Bednar of the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Trooper Bednar at (603) 223-8490.
