Boating Accident on Pleasant Lake, Deerfield

On Friday, August 26, 2016 at approximately 6:33 PM, New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol received a call regarding a single vessel boating accident where two people had been ejected on Pleasant Lake in Deerfield. Marine Patrol Officer Seth Alie and members of the Deerfield Fire/Rescue, Deerfield Police Department, and Raymond Fire/Rescue responded to the area.

Initial investigation revealed that a Chris Craft inboard powerboat was being operated on the northern side of the lake approximately 200 yards from shore by Jeffrey Huntington, age 61 of Loudon, NH. His wife was also aboard the boat. The vessel began to porpoise as it entered a turning maneuver, ejecting them into the water.

The boat ultimately sank. Witnesses helped pull them from the water and transported them to shore. Mrs. Huntington was transported to Concord Hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. Mr. Huntington was not injured and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor in this accident.
