Body Recovered from Ayers Pond, Barrington NH

At approximately 7:27 p.m., 911 received a call from a man stating that his wife was face down in the water on Ayers Pond in the town of Barrington.   NH State Police-Marine Patrol Officer Hugh Dougherty responded to the location. Upon his arrival, he learned that a 72-year-old female had been transported to Frisbee Hospital. She was identified as Ruth Meader of Rochester, NH.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. Officer Dougherty learned that Mrs. Meader had been in the water with her husband throughout the day. At some point, her husband noticed she had not been seen or heard from for a short time and subsequently went out to look for her.

He observed her face down in about three feet of water and called 911. She was brought to the shore where her husband administered CPR until paramedics arrived, at which time she was transported to Frisbee Hospital. She passed away at the hospital later last evening.
