Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident, Exeter Road/Kingston, NH

On Sunday, July 17, 2016 at approximately 0954 hours, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A barracks responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle accident on Exeter Rd. in the Town of Kingston, NH.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Ford Focus, being driven by Paul Francis, age 90, of Exeter, NH, was traveling west on Exeter Rd. For reasons that are still under investigation, the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over. The vehicle then caught fire. Witnesses to this accident were able to remove Francis from the vehicle before it was consumed by fire.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this accident. However, all aspects are being investigated. It appears that Francis was not wearing a seatbelt.

Francis was transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he later died from the injuries he sustained in this accident.

Exeter Rd. was closed at the intersection of Willow Rd. for approximately 1½ hours as Troopers conducted their investigation.

Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the Kingston Police Department, the East Kingston Police Department, the Brentwood Police Department, and the Kingston Fire Department. This accident remains under investigation by Trooper Harrison Walters. Anyone with information pertaining to this accident is asked to contact Trooper Walters, NH State Police-Troop A at (603) 223-8490.
