Animal Cruelty Arrest, Hooksett

 Trooper Baldassarre with Breeklyn

TFC Daniel Baldassarre of Troop D
in Concord helps Breelyn,
a chocolate lab,
get some fresh air
after she was rescued
from a parked car
with the windows rolled up
on a 95-degree afternoon
in Hooksett, NH.

At approximately 2:58 p.m. on July 15, Troopers from the Troop D barracks in Concord, NH responded to the Hooksett Rest area on Interstate 93 for complaints a dog was left unattended and locked inside a Ford SUV with the windows rolled up and the engine turned off.

The temperature at the time was over 95 degrees.

A witness estimated the dog had been left in the vehicle for 30-40 minutes.

A search of the area for the dog's owner was initially unsuccessful while the dog was visibly in distress. Troopers were then forced to gain access to the vehicle with an unlocking tool and successfully rescued the dog, a chocolate lab named Breelyn.

Its owner, one Amy Rose, 41, of North Dighton, MA was eventually located and charged with Cruelty to Animals. She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the Hooksett Circuit Court Aug. 30 at 8:30 a.m.
