Prop Strikes Water Skier, Baxter Lake, Rochester

At approximately 4:30 pm, the NH State Police-Marine Patrol received the report of a boating accident on Baxter Lake in Rochester where a powerboat was reported to have hit a water skier with its propeller resulting in the skier's leg being seriously injured.

The injured party, Brian McComiskey, age 38, of Woburn MA, was brought aboard the striking boat operated by his cousin, John Paul McComiskey, also of Woburn, and transported to the Grandview Campground where both parties were staying.

Occupants of the boat were met at the campground by the Rochester Fire/Rescue where Brian McComiskey's injuries were treated and prepped for transport via life flight to Maine Medical Center.

Officers at the scene arrested John Paul McComiskey for suspected felony Boating While Intoxicated as it is believed that he operated a boat under the influence that lead to a serious bodily injury accident. He was released on a combination of cash and PR bail. No arraignment date was available at the time of this release.

Brian McComiskey was admitted to Maine Medical Center where he remains. Information about his condition is not available at this time.

McComiskey's boat was removed from the scene by the State Police-Marine Patrol.

Marine Patrol was assisted at the scene by Rochester Police & Rochester Fire/Rescue.
