Motor Vehicle Fatality, Route 125, Brentwood

On Friday June 03, 2016 at approximately 4:39 p.m. (1639 hours) the Brentwood Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle crash located in the area of #241 NH Route 125 in the Town of Brentwood, New Hampshire which involved multiple vehicles.

Upon arrival the investigation revealed a blue 2004 Ford F-350 was traveling southbound on NH Route 125 being operated by Paul Smith of Brentwood, New Hampshire, age 46 had stopped to make a legal left hand turn while a red 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 being operated by Christopher Lavoie of Loudon, New Hampshire, age 33 was also traveling southbound on NH Route 125. Simultaneously a green 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer being operated by Jennifer Markee of Newton, New Hampshire, age 40 was traveling northbound.

For unknown reasons at this time the red 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 operated by Christopher Lavoie rear-ended the blue Ford F-350 pushing it into the northbound travel lane where it struck the green 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The operator of the red 2006 GMC Sierra 3500, Christopher Lavoie suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Exeter Hospital for treatment. The operator of the blue 2004 Ford F-350, Paul Smith did not suffer any injuries while the operator of the green 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer Jennifer Markee suffered life threatening injuries and was med-flighted to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts where she succumbed to her injuries late last night. The two children in the Chevrolet Trailblazer suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment.

Assisting on scene were members of the Brentwood Police Department, Kingston Police Department, Freemont Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, NH State Police Troop A Barracks, Brentwood / Kingston Fire & Rescue Crews, Brentwood / Epping EMS Crews, and DHART Critical Care Medical Flight Crew.

At this time the crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit) with assistance from the Brentwood Police Department.
