Reckless Driving Arrest, I-89 Hopkinton

At approximately 1046 hours on May 3, 2016 Trooper First Class Sean Faherty of the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was monitoring traffic from the State Police aircraft on I-89 northbound in the Town of Hopkinton. TFC. Faherty observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed and clocked it at 138 MPH in the posted 65 MPH speed zone. TFC. Faherty radioed to Trooper First Class Charles George, who was able to stop the vehicle. The operator and vehicle were identified as Jonathan Azar, age 27, Manchester, NH 2009 Infiniti G37.

TFC. George placed Azar under arrest for Reckless Driving. Azar is due to appear in the Concord District Court to answer to this charge on June 24, 2016 at 0830.

The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire's roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
