Motor Vehicle Fatality, Main Street, Claremont

On Saturday April 23, 2016 at approximately 1:28 p.m. (1328 hours) the Claremont Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle crash in the area of 419 Main Street which involved a single vehicle.

Upon arrival the investigation revealed a green 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee being operated by Amber KING of Claremont, New Hampshire, age 36 was traveling eastbound on Main Street when she lost control of her vehicle. As a result of this the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee overturned several times ejecting a female passenger who came to rest in Sugar River, she was later pronounced deceased by the state medical examiner's office at an area hospital.

The two remaining passengers in the vehicle also suffered serious injuries and were transported to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for care. Amber KING suffered serious injuries and was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Negligent Homicide. The names of the decedent and passengers are being withheld pending next of kin notifications.

Assisting on scene were members of the Claremont Police Department, NH State Police Troop C Barracks, Claremont Fire & Rescue, EMS Crews, and Claremont DPW.

At this time the crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit) with assistance from the Claremont Police Department.
