Car Jacking, Assault, Pursuit and MV Accident, F.E. Everett Turnpike, Nashua

On Friday, April 15, 2016 at approximately 1420 hours, the Nashua Police Department received information about a car-jacking that had just occurred on Main Street in the city. Moments later the vehicle crashed on the F.E.Everett Turnpike in Nashua between exits 4 & 5. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jonathan J. Calvin, Age 31, from Nashua NH.

It was reported that a female good Samaritan stopped to assist Calvin, and upon doing so Calvin assaulted the female and then stabbed her. Calvin stole the female's vehicle and fled the scene. Shortly thereafter Calvin was located by Officers from the Nashua Police Department and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle fled southbound into the State of Massachusetts where Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police identified the vehicle and attempted to stop it as well. Calvin reversed directions and subsequently traveled northbound on the F.E. Everett Turnpike back into New Hampshire where he caused an eight, (8) vehicle collision in the immediate area of Exit 4 in Nashua. Calvin was ejected from his vehicle and fought with officers from the Nashua Police Department and Troopers from the NH State Police as they attempted to take him into custody.

Calvin faces multiple charges from both the Nashua and New Hampshire State Police Departments. Information regarding the inner-city robbery should be obtained directly from the Nashua Police Department.

Of the eight vehicles involved in the collision, three, (3) individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The F.E. Everett Turnpike northbound in the area of exit 4 was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours as traffic was diverted off the exit 4 northbound off-ramp. The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit is conducting the accident investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact TFC Michael Pelletier at 603-223- 8699.

Anyone with information about the car-jacking and subsequent assault on the F.E. Everett Turnpike is requested to contact Detective Sergeant Marc Beaudoin of the NH State Police – Troop B at 603-223-8678.
