Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision, Route 101 Candia

overturned vehicle on route 101 in candai

On April 8, 2016 at approximately 7:31 a.m., the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A was notified of a motor vehicle collision on Route 101 in the area of mile marker 108.8 in Candia. Troopers along with Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found one vehicle, identified as a 2003 Dodge Dakota Pickup, on its roof in the middle of the eastbound lanes. There was also another vehicle involved which was identified as a 2012 Audi A-4 that was in the center median facing westbound. The operator of the Dodge Pickup was identified as, Joseph Dekorne, age 43, of Fremont, New Hampshire. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. It does not appear as though he was wearing a seat belt. The operator of the Audi was identified as Michael McCormick, age 31 of Bedford, New Hampshire. He sustained what appeared to be minor injuries in the crash and was transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester where he was treated and released.

Based upon the initial on-scene investigation, it appears that the Dodge Pickup was traveling eastbound on NH Route 101 at a high rate of speed when the operator lost control, struck the Audi and rolled over coming to rest on its roof.

At the request of the initial responding units, the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit was assisted on scene by members of the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A, the Candia Fire/EMS Department, New Hampshire Department of Transportation and The Office of the State Medical Examiner. Due to the collision, Route 101 eastbound was closed for approximately 3 hours and traffic was detoured off Exit 3 while the scene was investigated and debris cleaned up.

At this time it appears that speed may have been a factor in this crash, however all aspects remain under investigation. Anyone that may have further information related to this collision, or who witnessed this collsion are encouraged to contact Trooper First Class Michael Pelletier at 603-223-8699 or by email at michael.pelletier@dos.nh.gov.
