Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

On March 23, 2016 at approximately 05:30 AM State Troopers from Troop F responded to a motor vehicle crash in the northbound lane of I-93 in Ashland.

On their arrival they discovered a 2002 Pontiac Grand AM had crashed into the high speed guardrail, approximately a 1/2 mile south of Exit 24. Fire and Rescue personnel from the Ashland Fire Department were already on scene and had removed the lone female driver who was found unconscious in the car. They attempted live saving measures while transporting the victim to Speare Hospital in Plymouth.

The lone female driver, later identified as Debra-Rae Purcell, Bristol, NH, age: 58, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Speare Hospital.

Speed and Alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors into this crash. The crash is still under investigation by Trooper First Class Michael Pelletier of the New State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit. Assisting at the scene of the crash were troopers from Troop F, State Police Special Enforcement Unit and the Ashland Fire and Rescue.

Anyone with information about this crash is encouraged to contact the New Hampshire State Police, Troop F at (603) 223-8477.
