Fatal Motor Vehicle Collission

On March 17, 2016 at approximately 8:29 p.m., the New Hampshire State Police-Troop F was notified of a motor vehicle collision on NH Route 16 in the area known as "13 Mile Woods". Troopers along with Fire personnel responded to the scene and found one vehicle, identified as a Ford F-250, off the west side of the roadway that had struck several trees and come to rest on its passenger side. A male subject was found to be out of the vehicle and was determined to be the operator identified as, Michael Sheehan, age 49, of Foxborough, Massachusetts and had sustained significant injury in the collision and was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, New Hampshire where he was treated for those injuries. Sheehan's passenger, identified as, Stephen Bagley, age 48, of Roslindale, Massachusetts sustained fatal injury as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Based upon the initial on-scene investigation, it appears that the Ford was traveling northbound on NH Route 16 when it traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck several trees before coming to rest on its passenger side.

At the request of the initial responding units, the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit was assisted on scene by members of the New Hampshire State Police-Troop F, the Milan Fire/EMS Department, Errol Fire/EMS Department as well as The Office of the State Medical Examiner. Due to the collision, NH Route 16 was closed for approximately 6 hours.

Mr. Sheehan was arrested at Androscoggin Valley Hospital, charged with Negligent Homicide and released on $10,000 PR bail. He was then transported by ground ambulance to a Boston area hospital with several serious but non-life threatening injuries.

At this time it appears that alcohol may have been a factor in this crash, however all aspects remain under investigation. Anyone that may have further information related to this collision, or who witnessed this collsion are encouraged to contact Trooper Daniel Quartulli at 603-846-3333 or by email at Daniel.Quartulli@dos.nh.gov.
