Vehicle Pursuit

On 03/14/16, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Trooper Anthony Pratt from Troop D was patrolling Interstate 89 northbound Concord, NH when he observed a 2011 Subaru driving erratically and having lane control issues. Trooper Pratt activated his emergency lights siren and attempted to stop the vehicle, however the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle continued to operate at erratic speeds and was all over the roadway. Believing this was an impaired operator, Trooper Pratt along with additional Troopers continued to pursue the vehicle as it exited at exit #4. The vehicle ultimately continued onto George Road in Hopkinton where it left the roadway and drove across a field and a residential lawn where it became stuck in the mud. The operator and passenger then fled on foot.

The passenger, identified as Joshua Mitchell, age 21, Concord, NH, was arrested at the scene for Resisting Arrest or Detention. MITCHELL was held at the Merrimack County Jail on $1,000 cash bail pending arraignment.

State Police K9 unit, assisted by the Concord Police and Hopkinton Police conducted an extensive search of the area, but due to limited manpower initially, were unable to locate the suspect. Additionally, homeowners with good intentions checking their residences contaminated the area making the K9 track ineffective.

Resisting Arrest or Detention (A Misdemeanor)
Driving After Suspension (Violation)

At approximately 11:42 a.m., a Hopkinton Resident observed a suspicious male subject fitting Miller's description and called 911. Troopers along with the Hopkinton Police Department responded to the area and took Miller into custody without incident.

Miller was processed and transported to the Merrimack County Jail where he was held without bail on a probation hold.  Miller also refused bail on the criminal charges and is being held pending arraignment in the Concord District Court on 03/14/2016.
