Traffic Accident on Interstate 93 South

On Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at approximately 10:38 AM, a Blue 2005 Ford Freestyle van operated by Jessica Scales, 28 years old, from Derry, New Hampshire, was traveling Southbound on I- 93 in Manchester when she lost control of her vehicle. Scales spun out into the sound barrier on the right hand side of the roadway. The vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed. The Manchester Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the flames.

The front seat passenger of the vehicle, Gary Huber, age 40, from Haverhill, Massachusetts was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected out the front windshield. Huber suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Scales was wearing a seatbelt and received minor injuries. Both Scales and Huber were treated at the Elliot Hospital, transferred by the Manchester Fire Department.

New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisted Troopers with shutting down the right hand travel lane on I-93 South for approximately an hour and a half while the scene was processed. During the lane closure, Allen Buco, age 26, from Manchester, New Hampshire, was taking cell phone pictures of the burned vehicle as he drove by. Trooper Marciano, while at the scene, initiated a motor vehicle stop and cited Buco for Use of a Mobile Electronic Device While Driving. It was also determined that Buco had an active warrant from the Raymond Police Department and was arrested at the scene.
