Shots Fired/Barricaded Subject

The Lancaster Police Department received a report of shots being fired at 32 Prospect Street in Lancaster, NH 0n January 17th at approximately 2:30 pm. Due to the nature of the call the State Police responded as well.

Police learned that a domestic disturbance had occurred at the 32 Prospect Street address. The female living at the residence left with her two children. While they were driving out of the driveway the suspect shot at the vehicle striking the hood. The suspect has been identified as: Jeremiah Gillen, Age 35.

The NH State Police Crisis Negotiation Unit made contact with the male suspect and the NH State Police SWAT team also responded to secure the perimeter. Nearby residents were evacuated from the immediate area for their safety. Several hours of negotiating occurred through numerous phone calls. Communications ceased when Gillen no longer answered the phone.

The State Police utilized a robot to access the residence and locate Gillen. Gillen was found deceased due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The scene is secure, residents have returned home and there is no further danger to the public.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Quartulli at the NH State Police Troop F Barracks 846-333.
