Fire Officer I

Textbook: Fire Officer Principles and Practice, 3rd Edition

Description: This course is based on NFPA 1021: Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications (Chapter 4). Upon successful completion, with prerequisites met, will lead to ProBoard Certification. The course identified the requirements necessary to perform the duties of a first line supervisor. This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of management and supervision by concentration on such topics as organizational structure, communications skills, human resource management, public relations, planning, emergency services delivery and safety.
Prerequisites:

ProBoard or IFSAC Certified Firefighter II
ProBoard or IFSAC Certified Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I**
ICS 100 & ICS 200
**Those that meet all but the Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I prerequisite will be allowed to take the program, but not take the final exam. Once they certify in Instructor I, they will sign up for monthly testing for the Fire Officer I final exam. Upon successful completion of that exam, student will be ProBoard certified as Fire Officer I. All of this must be done within three years of taking Fire Officer I.

Fire Officer II

Textbook: Fire Officer Principles and Practice, 3rd Edition
Hours: 60
Description: This course is based on NFPA 1021: Standard for Fire Officer Processional Qualifications (Chapter 5). Upon successful completion ProBoard certification of Fire Officer II will be awarded. The course is designed for the Fire Officer who is ready to assume more of a leadership role by moving into the middle management level of his/her department. This course expands on the knowledge base attained in Fire Officer I by revisiting some of the same subjects and adding additional material including; management, government structure, and departmental budget planning and management.
Prerequisites: ProBoard or IFSAC Certified Fire Officer I
Dress Code: Business attire
