Driver/Operator - All Vehicle with TIMS

Textbook: IFSTA Pumping and Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook, Third Edition
Hours: Total: 24 Hours including 16 hours of Classroom and 8 Hours of Practical training
Description: The Driver/Operator - All Vehicle with TIMS class is designed to provide students, both EMS providers and firefighters, with the basic knowledge and skills required to safely drive emergency vehicles. A combination of classroom and hands-on skills drills cover basic vehicle terminology, design and construction, basic driving skills, emergency driving considerations and skills, readiness checks, and maintenance. Additionally, the class includes the National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training Program.
Prerequisites: Valid Driver's License
Equipment: Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, Class II or III High Visibility Safety Vest
Dress Code: Department Uniform  
Class Size: Maximum of 16 Students  
 
Driver/Operator - Aerial Apparatus
Med Release Required? No
Textbook: IFSTA Pumping and Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook, Third Edition
Hours: Total: 32 Hours including 16 Hours of Classroom and 16 Hours of Practical training
Description: The Driver/Operator-Aerial Apparatus class is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required to safely operate fire service aerial apparatus. A combination of classroom instruction and hands-on skill drills cover basic aerial device terminology, design and construction, driving and positioning, stabilization, operation of the aerial device, strategies and tactics for aerial devices and are given the knowledge required to understand the manufacturer specific considerations for the safe operation of aerial apparatus.
Prerequisites: Valid Driver's License
Firefighter I
Driver/Operator-All Vehicle with TIMS (OR EVDT)
Equipment: NFPA compliant turnout gear (Boots, Pants, Coat, Helmet), Work or Extrication Gloves
Class size: Maximum of 16 Students  
Dress Code: Department Uniform

Driver/Operator- Pumping Apparatus

Textbook: IFSTA Pumping and Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook, Third Edition
Hours: Total: 36 including 18 Hours of Classroom and 18 Hours of Practical training
Description: The Driver/Operator-Pumping Apparatus class is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required to safely operate fire service pumping apparatus. A combination of classroom instruction and hands-on skill drills cover basic pump terminology, design and construction, driving and positioning, hose and nozzles from the perspective of the pump operator, water supplies, hydraulic theory and fire ground calculations, operation of the pump, operation of the foam systems, readiness checks, maintenance, and testing. Students learn about all types of pumps and are given the knowledge required to understand and manufacturer specific considerations for the safe operation of pumping apparatus
Prerequisites: Valid Driver's License
Firefighter I
Driver/Operator-All Vehicle with TIMS (OR EVDT)
Equipment: Sponsor department will need to provide pumping apparatus for practical evolutions
Dress Code: Department Uniform
