IMPORTANT UPDATE: NHMA Guidance on Public Meetings after the State of Emergency Ends (Posted June 11, 2021)
The current state of emergency, first declared on March 13, 2020, and extended 21 times since then, expires [June 11, 2021] at midnight, and the governor announced [June 10, 2021] that he will not extend it. This means that Emergency Order #12, which has authorized public bodies to meet without a physical location for the last 15 months, also expires at midnight on [June 11, 2021]. Thus, any public body that is meeting June 12, 2021 or later must comply with current law.

NHMA's legal services and government affairs attorneys host a weekly call for municipal officials and employees on municipal issues and concerns. Originally formed to address matters arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, this weekly membership call addresses other municipal concerns and issues which has been beneficial to both staff and members. All municipal officials from member municipalities are encouraged to participate. The purpose of the call is to learn about continuing and new issues municipalities are facing, as well as to try to answer your questions.
