Upcoming NFIP Training Opportunities

  • OSI will be holding free three-hour Floodplain Administrator 101 training workshops for local community officials in three locations in the state this summer. The workshops are intended for community officials who administer and enforce floodplain regulations, review applications and/or issue permits for development in floodplain areas, and for other community officials who are interested in learning more about a community’s responsibilities as a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The first workshop is scheduled for June 27th in Newbury. Get the details about times, locations and how to RSVP in our Training Flyer. pdf file
  • The Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership (PREP), in partnership with OSI, is holding the workshop “Floodplain Management 101: Improving Flood Resiliency in Your Community” as part of its Board Empowerment Series on September 13th from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. During the workshop, OSI will provide an overview of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the minimum floodplain management standards required for participating communities, and an overview of the NFIP Community Rating System – a program that rewards communities for going above and beyond the minimum standards. The presentation will include examples of higher floodplain management standards communities can choose to take to increase their flood resilience. To learn more and register, visit PREP’s website.
