The NH Authors Database was compiled as a joint project of the NH Center for the Book and the Reference section of the New Hampshire State Library. It is based on the published work, New Hampshire Authors, Sixth Edition, Revised & Enlarged, compiled by Donna Gilbreth (1998). The database is updated on an ongoing basis.

The NH Authors Database contains information on over 1200 authors and illustrators who have called the Granite State home. Writers who were born in New Hampshire, are current residents of New Hampshire, or who have spent a significant portion of their writing careers in New Hampshire, and who have at least one published book catalogued in a New Hampshire library have been included.

If you know of a writer who has been overlooked, or if you would like to add to or correct information on a writer, please let us know. To add an author to the database, please complete and return to us the NH Authors Form . You can use this form to add to the information in the database for a particular author already listed as well. Suggestions for improvements or corrections should be sent to the NH Authors database coordinator.

In September 2020 we had to remove the searchable database from the website.
We hope to republish it in a new searchable online format in the near furure.
