> Libraries in the Granite State

New Hampshire is home to hundreds of public libraries and has the distinction of being home to the first public library in America which was established in 1833 in Peterborough. The New Hampshire State Library maintains a directory of libraries in the Granite State.

We are also home to the NHLA which is the oldest statewide library association established by legislation in the United States. It was founded in 1889 and continues as an active part of New Hampshire's library community.

If you want to support New Hampshire's libraries, you might want to check out one of the many library book sales that go on during the year.
