Work Release Resident Missing from Manchester Transitional Housing Unit

(Manchester, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that a work release inmate at the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester was placed on walkaway status. This is in addition to the one who walked away two days earlier. Isthmian Aaron Smith, 55, formerly of Enfield, New Hampshire left his place of employment at approximately 12:00 pm on Monday, July 10, 2017 and failed to return. He was due to report back to the facility at 9:00 pm.

Smith is described as a black man, 5 foot 6 inches tall, 182 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is serving multiple concurrent sentences. He was sentenced in Grafton County Superior Court on October 4, 2016 to 1 1/2 - 4 year sentence for Theft, a 1 1/2 - 4 year sentence for Operating After Being Deemed a Habitual Offender. He was sentenced in Merrimack County Superior Court to 1 to 5 years on October 12, 2016. He is also serving sentences of 2 to 4 years from Hillsborough County Superior Court North for Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Heroin, which he began serving on September 19, 2016. He was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison on September 19, 2016. He will be eligible for release on parole on January 4, 2018 with a maximum release date of October 9, 2021.

The New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau and the New Hampshire State Police are investigating. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact New Hampshire State Police or their local law enforcement agency.
