New Hampshire Department of Corrections Employees in Concord and Manchester Recognized with Special Citation Bars

(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections celebrated National Correctional Employees Appreciate Week by presenting a total of 45 medals and citation bars to employees at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men and the Secure Psychiatric Unit in Concord, the Concord District Probation/Parole Office, and the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester.

Department employees can receive up to five different medals and citation bars for an extraordinary achievement or accomplishment. Those include the Medal of Honor, the Life Saving citation bar, the Honorable Service citation bar, the Injured in the Line of Duty citation bar, and the Team Commendation citation bar. The following employees were recognized for their achievements during 2016 and in winter of 2017.

Corrections Officer Dominic Salce, Corrections Officer Jason Caruso, and Corrections Investigator David Dionne received the Life Saving citation bar for preventing a hanging in the prison.

Corrections Officer Bonnie Theriault received a Life Saving citation bar for saving the life of an offender who was choking in a dining hall.

Corrections Corporals Roger Provost and Charles Paz received a Life Saving citation bar for rendering first aid to an inmate who had cut himself and lost blood due a self-inflicted wound.

Corrections Officer Oakley Hundley received a Life Saving citation bar for providing care to a resident who had overdosed on heroin in the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester.

Corrections Sergeant Michael Brown received the Life Saving citation bar for providing care, including the application of Naltraxone, for a resident that was found unresponsive from a Fentanyl overdose at the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester.

Corrections Officers Christopher Brownlie and Jonathan Marshall received the Life Saving citation bar for providing emergency care to an inmate who had lost significant blood due to a self-inflicted wound.

For the same incident, Registered Nurse Donna Dufresne received a special civilian citation bar for providing medical care to the injured inmate. Corrections Sergeants Gary Lydick and Jeremiah Totten received the Team Commendation citation bar for providing logistical and additional support during the incident.

A total of 29 Correctional staff received the Team Commendation citation bar for their team effort managing and successfully resolving a tense situation in the Close Custody Unit of the New Hampshire State Prison on February 3, 2017. During the incident, inmates set a fire that was extinguished by staff and they evacuated inmates en-masse from the unit to a location where they were kept safe and secure until the matter was resolved.

They are identified as Corrections Captain Michael Edmark, Corrections Lieutenants Troy Fontaine and Paul Carroll, Corrections Sergeants Stephen Isabelle, Keith Forcier, Claude Dupuis, David Cormier and Corrections Corporals Patrick Wright and Malcolm Havlock

Also honored were Corrections Officers Peter Waimiri, Paul Kimani, Robert Streeter, Nathan Moss, Roger Dugre, Glenn Nimirowski, Brandon Walsh, Aaron McDonald, Richard Brewer, Bonnie Theriault, Roy Tripp, Robert Leitner, Joseph Laramie, Michael Biron, Alan Esty, David Biondi, Jonathan Marshall, Tracy Bryant, Tyler Amnott, and Brandon Westgate.

Corrections Sergeant Benjamyn Carver from the Secure Psychiatric Unit received an Honorable Service citation bar because, while he was off-duty, he assisted the Allenstown Police Department in identifying a suspect in a series of burglaries and checking on the safety of local residents.

Probation/Parole Officers Normand Marquis and Jonathan Boisselle received the Honorable Service citation bar for assisting a stranded motorist in a busy intersection while they were on duty.
