The Department of Corrections Publishes Recidivism Studies for Fiscal Years 2009 and 2010

(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections, Division of Research and Planning, released four reports about recidivism in New Hampshire. These reports look at the time frames of Fiscal Year 2009 through Fiscal Year 2011 and Fiscal Year 2010 through Fiscal Year 2012. According to the reports the overall recidivism rate continued to decline for both males and females during these time periods

After reaching a high of 49.6% in for inmates released during Fiscal Year 2005 the annual rate of recidivism for inmates released in Fiscal Year 2010 was 41.4%. The summary of the findings for FY-2010 are as follows:

In FY-2009 the total number of inmates released from prison was 1,412. Of these 609 of them returned to prison within three years of their release. Of the 1,267 inmates released from prison in FY-2010, 524 of them returned.
