NH Department of Corrections Recognizes Employees at Berlin Facility
(Berlin, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn presented 14 special citation bars to employees at the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin for their extraordinary achievements for three different incidents in 2015.
Nursing Coordinator Ryan Landry was presented with the Department Team Commendation citation bar for rendering emergency medical assistance to a fellow employee who suddenly became ill on duty and was taken to Androscoggin Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
The Commissioner presented the Department Life Saving citation bar to six officers and one nurse who resuscitated an unresponsive inmate in his cell. The recipients were Corrections Officer Joshua Cusson, Corrections Officer Rodney Plante, Corrections Corporal Randy Girard, Corrections Officer David Lamontagne, Corrections Officer Eddy L’Heureux, Corrections Officer Ronald Snyder, and Registered Nurse Linda Falardeau.
The Commissioner also presented five officers and one nurse with the Department Life Saving citation bar for providing medical care and first aid to an inmate who had attempted to take his own life with several self-inflicted wounds. The recipients were Corrections Officer Diana Beckwith, Corrections Officer George Bigl, Corrections Corporal Keith Hartshorn, Corrections Officer Iosif Judge, Corrections Officer Gary Putney and Registered Nurse Jennifer Allen.
Commissioner Wrenn said, “Thanks to their prompt and immediate responses these incidents resulted in positive outcomes. Their professional actions are a strong reminder of these employees’ devotion to duty and public safety.”
The NCF Maintenance Team were also recognized with a plaque from Eversource of New Hampshire for installing a new security lighting system that is energy efficient.
The medals and bars were presented as part of National Correctional Employees Appreciation Week, which happens May 1-7, 2016.
