NH Department of Corrections Recognizes Employes with Bars and Medals
(Goffstown, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections awarded seven employees with medals and bars during a National Correctional Employees Appreciation Week ceremony at the New Hampshire Correctional Facility for Women in Goffstown on May 4, 2016.
Commissioner William L. Wrenn presented Corrections Sergeant Jennifer DeLacy with the Team Commendation citation bar. She assisted a fellow officer at the Shea Farm Transitional Housing Unit in Concord after she had suddenly become ill and needed emergency transportation to the hospital.
Commissioner Wrenn presented two Corrections Officers and two Corrections Nurses with the Life Saving citation bar. Corrections Sergeant Michael Farrell, Corrections Corporal Athena Panas, and Nurses Chelsea Cahill and Tina Crisafulli provided emergency care to an inmate who had cut her wrist in a suicide attempt.
Commissioner Wrenn also presented the Life Saving citation bar to three Correctional Officers and one Nurse for preventing another suicide attempt during which the inmate caused a deep wound in her hip. The recipients were Corrections Corporal Athena Panas, Corrections Officer Amanda Turcotte, Corrections Officer Madeline Gonzalez, and Nurse Chelsea Cahill.
Commission Wrenn said, “These prompt and alert actions performed in the line of duty demonstrated exceptional effort toward the preservation of life as well as their dedication to duty and the Corrections profession.”
National Correctional Employees Appreciation Week continues through the remainder of the week. Commissioner Wrenn will present additional bars and medals at to employees at the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin to recognize extraordinary accomplishments during 2015.
