Department of Corrections Presents Special Bars to 12 Officers

(Concord, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn presented 14 medals to 12 Corrections Officers assigned to the Secure Psychiatric Unit/Residential Treatment Unit in Concord. The Commissioner recognized the Officers for their actions in the line of duty in five different incidents during 2014 including two Officers who received multiple citation bars for different incidents.

The following Officers received the Department of Corrections Life Saving citation bar for their roles in saving the lives of patients during suicide attempts


Corrections Officer Christopher Berntsen (two Life Saving medals)
Corrections Corporal David Boissonnault
Corrections Officer Wayne DeFeo

The following Officers received Team Commendation citation bars for their roles in diffusing potentially volatile situations in the same incidents
Corrections Officer Aaron Belanger


Corrections Corporal Lance Bennett
Corrections Officer Christopher Berntsen
Corrections Officer Daniel Connors
Corrections Officer Jeffrey Dionne
Corrections Corporal Stacie Lamontagne
Corrections Officer Brian Marion
Corrections Sergeant Michael Shaw

The following Officers received the Department of Corrections Line of Duty medal for receiving injuries in the line of duty by an armed patient. Neither injury was life threatening.

Commissioner Wrenn said, “The Corrections environment can be unpredictable on any day but the extraordinary accomplishments of these Officers provide the public, the offender population, and Corrections staff with the confidence that our facilities are operated safely and effectively.”
