(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announced the annual plant sale will run May 22-27, 2006 at the greenhouse behind the North End Halfway House in Concord.  A wide variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetable plants will be sold to the public with proceeds to benefit the Horticultural Vocational Program.

Fifteen flower varieties include Pansies, Violas, Marigolds, Impatiens, Geraniums, and Snapdragons.  Vegetables and fruits include cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, broccoli, strawberries, and ten varieties of tomatoes and four varieties of peppers.  Herbs include Parsley and Basil.

Most six packs are $2.00.  Some plants are priced higher depending on the variety.  Customers may visit the greenhouse at 281 North State Street, Concord, from 7:00 AM-3:30 PM during any day of the sale.  Stock is limited.  Payment must be made by check only.  No cash or credit cards will be accepted.

“Vocational classes such as the horticulture program provide offenders with the tools, resources, and skills that will help them obtain employment when they are released from prison,” Commissioner William L. Wrenn said.
