NH-DOC STEPS UP RECUITMENT FOR SECURITY/MEDICAL STAFF
(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections seeks qualified individuals to apply for positions as Corrections Officers and Registered Nurses.
"The safety of the public is our priority and to maintain that safety we must maintain an acceptable level of security and services within our institutions," Corrections Commissioner Stephen J. Curry explained.
"We are cognizant of the current fiscal situation within the state of New Hampshire but we fill these key positions to maintain the orderly operation of our prisons while working within the budget provided to us," Commissioner Curry said.
Applicants must complete a State of New Hampshire job application, take a written examination, and meet certain physical requirements. All successful applicants must also complete the 8 week long Corrections Academy.
Corrections Officers must be a minimum of 20 years old and have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. The salary range is $25,376 - $33,841 plus $1,300 hazardous duty pay. Registered Nurses must be qualified in their field. The salary is $31,726 - $42,997 plus $1,300 hazardous duty pay. Both receive a full health care and dental benefits package. A retirement plan is also available. All applicants are subject to a criminal background check.
"All of our staff have opportunities to grow within the department and we strongly encourage that kind of upward mobility," Commissioner Curry added.
