Community Forestry Advisory Council

Mission

The mission of the New Hampshire Community Forestry Program is to promote the stewardship of urban and rural forest landscapes to enhance the quality of life in New Hampshire communities.

 

Purpose and Scope

The Community Forestry Advisory Council (CFAC) is established as a subcommittee of the New Hampshire Forest Advisory Board (NHFAB). The role of CFAC is to work in partnership with the Division of Forests and Lands - Department of Resources and Economic Development (DRED), UNH Cooperative Extension (UNHCE) and other state agencies to serve as a focused source of public input to improve the information base influencing management decisions relative to the delivery of the New Hampshire Community Forestry Program. Council members are appointed by the Director of the Division of Forests and Lands

 

Council Objectives

  • Provide advice, suggestions, and guidance in an advisory capacity to those who develop and implement New Hampshire's Community Forestry Program.
  • Provide opportunities for public input regarding the ongoing New Hampshire Community Forestry Program;
  • Facilitate dialogue between diverse interests and help resolve conflicts with resource decision making.

 

Example Duties

  • Assist with the ongoing "New Hampshire Community Forestry - Five Year Program Plan", monitoring efforts and periodic review and comment on the plan;
  • Review and comment on cosponsors urban and community forestry work plans to ensure the New Hampshire Community Forestry Program is implemented;
  • Review and comment on New Hampshire Community Forestry Program accomplishments at least annually to assess achievements;
  • Sponsor public information meetings and assist with the distribution of information for public consumption and comment;
