Planning and Community Forestry Bureau

The purpose of the Planning and Community Forestry Bureau, within the Division of Forests and Lands, is to deliver accurate resource information, expand knowledge, and motivate the general public, professional resource managers, and other resource organizations and agencies to take action to maximize the contribution of New Hampshire's forests to the enhancement of their quality of life.

The Bureau is responsible for the administration of New Hampshire's Community Forestry Program and for the management of 3 state-owned facilities; the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth, Shieling Forest in Peterborough, and the Taylor Historic Sawmill at Ballard State Forest in Derry,

The Planning & Community Forestry Bureau also represents the Director (State Forester), Division of Forests and Lands, in matters concerning community forestry, applied forest research, forest stewardship, forest statistics, public relations, and other associated programs as they are directly related to the overall statewide mission of the Division of Forests and Lands.
