Award Recipient: Calvin Herst, Director of Education and Community Partnerships, Concord Community Music School

Calvin HerstCalvin Herst has been Director of Education and Community Partnerships at Concord Community Music School (CCMS) for 18 years. Through his work, each year CCMS is able to nurture more than 600 students within its walls and an additional 800 students in community partnerships, most of whom would not have access to music education. Calvin has been masterful in taking Music School programs to a very high level of artistic excellence. Early childhood programs established in 1984 now serve preschoolers with special needs in inclusive classes; an extensive children’s chorus program offers half of its members scholarships through a special partnership with Concord School District chorus teachers; and programs for adults span the musical continuum from an adult beginner ukulele ensemble to challenging woodwind chamber ensembles and a community women’s chorus. Calvin is also a highly skilled pianist, contributing his talent through years of concerts in New Hampshire and beyond.
