Mission

The Governor's Council on Physical Activity and Health promotes a healthy, active lifestyle through education and advocacy for a healthier New Hampshire.

Vision

Our New Hampshire communities embrace and support an active and healthy culture for all.

Who We Are

The Governor's Council on Physical Activity & Health is comprised of representatives from state agencies, health care, the business community, education, older adult organizations and numerous organizations and individuals with an interest in promoting healthy active lifestyles.

Events

Outstanding Achievement Award Program

The Outstanding Achievement Awards are given annually by the Council to individuals and organizations who have accomplished outstanding achievements in promoting healthy lifestyles through increasing opportunities for physical activity, nutrition, and overall health for New Hampshire residents and employees.

Want to Nominate Someone – Here's How:

Complete the nomination form (download from www.nhmoves.org) and one letter of support. Send them to Scot Foster at scot.foster@ dhhs.nh.gov or Scot Foster, Chronic Disease Section, NH DPHS, 29 Hazen Dr., Concord, NH 03301. Submit by: Friday, April 12, 2019.

The Awards ceremony will be held at the State Capitol: Friday, May 31, 2019.

Granite Walk of Ages

Join us at the State Capitol or a satellite site on Friday, May 31, 2019 for the Granite Walk of Ages. The walk is statewide health initia¬tive, centered on bringing together towns, cities, schools, organizations and businesses in New Hampshire. It focuses on prevention, increased physical activity and employee health.

All New Hampshire schools are invited to register their school as a satellite site and walk locally with students on the date of the walk, before, during, or after school.

90 Day Challenge

Winter Challenge

The Granite State 90 Day Winter Challenge begins Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Exercise for 20 minutes or more every day in the months of January, February and March. Be creative and enjoy the opportunities a New Hampshire winter can provide.

  • Register for the Challenge at www.nhmoves.org
  • Each day strive for 20 minutes of activity OR strive to walk 2,000 steps (1 mile) a day
  • Take selfies and tag your photos with #NHMOVES – We may post them
  • Complete the final survey and you'll be eligible for cool raffle prizes

Summer Challenge

Kick-off the summer, Saturday, June 1, 2019, with our The Granite State 90 Day Challenge by exercising for 20 minutes or more every day in the months of June, July, and August. Residents can walk, run, bike, hike, paddle, swim or even fly a kite. NH residents are encouraged to register with a buddy.
