Design Services provides support to the Department, other state agencies, municipalities, utility companies and the general public related to utilities, railroads and records.
The Utility Section works closely with each of the design, construction and operations groups within the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. The Utility Section identifies utility and railroads facilities within project limits. The Section coordinates with the utilities and railroads during the design and construction phases of transportation projects to minimize and mitigate impacts to the utilities and railroads. The Utility Section also manages the Department's railroad crossing improvement program. In addition, engineers working within the section design highway lighting for the department.
The Records Section is responsible for maintaining the project files, plans, forms, office equipment and supply inventory for Highway Design as well as providing the public, upon request, with such information as record plans, Specifications Books, and design manuals
