NHDOT Announces Railroad Reconstruction at Wakefield Crossing
Route 16 Traffic to be Detoured

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces planned work associated with the reconstruction of the railroad grade crossing on Route 16 in Wakefield.

Beginning in the morning hours of Friday, May 15, Route 16 will be closed at the railroad crossing. All traffic will be detoured onto Route 125 via Exit 18 northbound and a right turn at the signalized intersection of Routes 16/125/153 southbound. Local access only to Harmony Drive will be maintained at all times. Work is scheduled to continue through the weekend as the road is scheduled to be reopened at 12:00 pm on Monday, May 18.

Motorists traveling through the area should use caution, adhere to posted speed limits and give attention to construction vehicles moving in and out of the work zone.

WJ Riegel Rail Solutions, LLC of Selkirk, NY is the prime contractor for the 939,773.73 project, scheduled to be completed by late June, 2020.
