NHDOT Announces Directive Regarding Unmanned Aircraft Systems
The Directive Outlines the operation of UAS/ Drones From State Highways

NHDOT announces the release of a directive regarding the operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems or UAS (commonly known as drones) from NHDOT controlled properties. This directive is posted on the NHDOT/Bureau of Aeronautics website at:

Per NHDOT's directive, UAS operations from all state highway right-of-ways are not permitted unless those UAS operations are being conducted on behalf of NHDOT or another state agency and those operations are approved by NHDOT. All UAS Operations from NHDOT controlled properties other than state highway right-of-ways shall be evaluated by NHDOT/Bureau of Aeronautics on a case-by-case basis.

Persons operating UAS from NHDOT properties must show that they have approval from NHDOT for that operation. Person's found to be operating a UAS from a NHDOT property without NHDOT approval will be instructed to land the UAS and to leave the area.

For questions regarding this directive, please contact the Bureau of Aeronautics during normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm at 603-271-2552 or via email:
