Public Input Sought for the NH Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation Plan
Comments Will Help the Shape the Department's Vision, Goals and Objectives for Years to Come

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) seeks public input to help to update and shape the Department's Statewide Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation Plan. The Plan will provide direction to transportation policy makers regarding access and safety along the State's public roads and trails for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The first of eight outreach events is scheduled for Dover on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the Dover Farmer's Market at Henry Law Park, (Henry Law Avenue) from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. The public is invited to stop by the NHDOT/Alta Planning + Design booth to learn about the planning process and provide feedback related to:

  • Places you currently walk and ride your bicycle
  • Places you would like to walk and ride but don't feel safe
  • Your goals for the Statewide Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation Plan
  • Prioritizing resources for pedestrian and bicycle improvements
  • Other ideas and comments welcome!

As part of this effort the Department has also developed a website (https://www.nhpedbikeplan.com) where the public can participate in an online survey and contribute to an interactive map. The interactive map allows users to identify challenging corridors for walking and bicycling, and suggest locations for new or improved infrastructure designed to enhance access and safety for walking and bicycling.

  • Additional Statewide Public Meeting events are scheduled as follows: Sept 15 - Nashua Farmers Market, Sept 17 - Keene Library, Sept 18 - Lebanon UVLSRPC Office, Sept 22 - Littleton Farmers Market, Sept 24 - Manchester Library, Sept 25 - Gilford Library, Oct 2 - Portsmouth Library.
