2019 Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Program
Update to Letter of Interest Deadline

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the deadline for Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality (CMAQ) Letters of Interest (LOI) has been extended one week. The new deadline is Friday June 14, 2019 at 4:00 pm. Other deadlines will not be affected by this change.

Key dates:

  • June 14, 2019: Letters of Interest due to NHDOT by 4:00 pm.
  • June: Mandatory Municipally Managed Project Workshops to be scheduled at various locations.
  • September 6, 2019: Completed applications due to NHDOT.
  • November 1, 2019: Application scores and rankings due.

The CMAQ program is a federally funded reimbursement program that provides up to 80% of funds for projects that improve air quality by reducing the amount of vehicular emissions. There is approximately $13.5 million in federal dollars available for this round. Examples of CMAQ projects include: Transit investments, signal coordination, intersection improvements, park and ride facilities, intelligent transportation systems, and non-recreational bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

The application will be available in June. A Letter of Interest submission and attendance at the pre-application information meeting is mandatory. Failure to meet both of those requirements will disqualify your application from being submitted for possible funding.
