Route 9 Westbound Detour in Hopkinton to Begin April 16th
Allowing for Work on NH 9 Bridges Over Elm Brook and Contoocook River

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces a planned westbound detour for traffic on NH Route 9 in Hopkinton is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. This detour is necessary to allow for preservation work on the NH Route 9/US 202 bridges over Elm Brook and the Contoocook River that are located between I-89 Exit 5 and NH Route 127.

Beginning April 16th, motorists seeking to travel west on NH 9/US 202 will be directed to Exit 6 and across NH 127 to return back to NH 9/US 202. This westbound detour is expected to be in place for about three months.

There will be no detour of NH 9/US 202 eastbound traffic.

The preservation work on both bridges includes replacement of the bridge deck pavements and membranes, deck repairs, replacement of expansion joints, and complete repainting of the structural steel.

Beck and Bellucci Inc. from Franklin, New Hampshire is the prime contractor for the $2.6 million project, which has a scheduled completion date of October 18, 2019.
