Bridge Preservation Work Begins on NH 9/US 202 in Hopkinton
Spring Detour Planned for Westbound Traffic to Exit 6 of I-89

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces work is underway on a bridge preservation project on two bridges on NH Route 9/US202 in Hopkinton. These bridges carry traffic over Elm Brook and the Contoocook River between I-89 Exit 5 and NH 127.

The scope of work for both bridges includes replacement of the bridge deck pavements and membranes, deck repairs, replacement of expansion joints, and complete repainting of the structural steel.

This project will eventually require a westbound detour taking traffic northbound on I-89 to Exit 6 and across NH 127 to return back to NH 9/US 202. The duration of the traffic detours should be about three months beginning in the spring of 2019. There will be no detour of NH 9/US 202 eastbound traffic.

The total contract cost of the project is $2.6 million dollars. The prime contractor is Beck and Bellucci Inc. from Franklin, NH.
